Car HUD: Speed & Navigation
This policy explains what data the Car HUD app ("the app"), developed by Hovik Aghajanyan ("we"), handles and why. We do not run our own servers for the app, we do not have user accounts, and we do not sell your personal data.
Location
The app uses your device's location to show your speed, the map, speed limits and directions. Location is processed on your device. To draw the map, find places, calculate routes and look up speed limits, the app sends only the coordinates needed for that request to:
- Apple Maps (map, search and routes),
- Google Maps Platform (map, search and routes, when you choose Google Maps or Apple has no route in your area),
- OpenStreetMap Overpass (speed limits for the area around you, cached on your device for 30 days).
These providers process those requests under their own policies: Apple, Google, OpenStreetMap Foundation. We never receive or store your location.
With HUD Pro, while you navigate or drive with the app in the background, location keeps updating so your speed and next turn stay current on the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island. This stops automatically when navigation ends or the car has been parked for 3 minutes.
Trips
Trip history (routes, distance, duration and speeds) is recorded automatically and stored only on your device. You can delete any trip in the app; deleting the app removes all trips.
Motion
Motion data is used on your device to show G-force and to time acceleration runs. It is not stored or sent anywhere.
Siri and Shortcuts
If you set a home address, it is stored on your device only and used when you ask Siri to navigate home.
In-app purchases
HUD Pro subscriptions and the lifetime purchase are processed by Apple's App Store. We never receive your payment details; the app only learns whether a purchase is active so it can unlock HUD Pro.
Advertising and tracking
Car HUD (free version): shows ads served by Unity LevelPlay (ironSource) and its advertising partners. To show and measure ads, their SDK collects your device's advertising identifier (only if you allow tracking when the app asks), approximate location derived from your IP address, information about the ads you see and tap, and crash and performance diagnostics. This data may be used by those partners to show you personalised ads in other apps. If you tap "Ask App Not to Track", the advertising identifier is not shared and ads are less personalised. You can change this any time in Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking. See the Unity privacy policy for how they handle this data. Ads never appear to HUD Pro subscribers.
Car HUD Pro (the paid app) and HUD Pro subscribers see no ads; the paid app contains no advertising or third-party analytics SDKs and does not track you.
If you choose to share crash reports with developers in iOS settings, Apple provides them to us in anonymized form.
Children
The app is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
Your choices
You can deny or limit location access in Settings › Privacy & Security › Location Services (the app keeps working without it; speed, the map and directions need it), delete trips in the app, and remove all locally stored data by deleting the app.
Changes
We may update this policy; the date above shows the latest version.
