iSecure – Secure messaging
This policy explains what data the iSecure app and its iMessage extension ("the app"), developed by Hovik Aghajanyan ("we"), handle and why. We do not run servers for the app, we never receive your messages or keys, and we do not sell your personal data.
Your messages
Messages are encrypted on your device with a key you choose (AES-256-GCM). Sealed messages travel only where you send them — for example in iMessage or wherever you paste them. We never see, store, or transmit their content, and we cannot read them.
Your keys
Keys you save are stored in the secure iOS Keychain on your device only ("this device only"); they are not synced or sent anywhere by the app. One-time passwords are never saved.
Camera
If you tap Scan QR, the app uses the camera only to read an iSecure QR code on your screen. Images are processed on your device and are never saved or sent anywhere. Camera access is optional; you can change it in Settings › iSecure.
Opening secrets from other apps
When you choose Open in iSecure from the Share sheet, iSecure reads only the text or image you shared, on your device, to find a sealed secret. Nothing you share this way is stored or sent anywhere.
Face ID and passcode
The app uses Face ID, Touch ID or your device passcode through iOS to unlock the app and your saved keys. We never receive biometric data; iOS only tells the app whether authentication succeeded.
Data stored on your device
Your settings (lock timeout, auto-hide time, clipboard clearing), which burn-after-reading messages were already opened, and the state of iMessage bubbles are saved locally on your device only.
Advertising
The free version shows ads through Unity LevelPlay mediation with ad networks such as ironSource Ads and Unity Ads. Ads are never shown in the iMessage extension or while you read a message, and ad providers never receive your messages or keys. These providers may collect and process data from your device to serve, measure and personalize ads and to prevent fraud, for example: advertising identifier (IDFA) if you allow it, IP address and approximate location derived from it, device model and OS version, interactions with ads, and diagnostic data.
- The advertising identifier is only accessed if you allow tracking in the system prompt. You can change this anytime in Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking.
- iSecure Pro removes all ads.
Please see their policies: Unity Privacy Policy and ironSource Privacy Policy.
In-app purchases and subscriptions
iSecure Pro purchases and subscriptions are processed by Apple's App Store. We never receive your payment details; the app only receives confirmation from Apple that a purchase is active so it can unlock Pro features. You can manage or cancel subscriptions in Settings › [your name] › Subscriptions.
Children
The app is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
Your choices
You can limit ad tracking in system settings, remove ads with iSecure Pro, delete individual keys in the app, and remove all locally stored data by deleting the app.
Changes
We may update this policy; the date above shows the latest version.
